Dear Medical Staff,
This month, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and their remarkable impact on our nation, culture and daily lives. Pride Month is a vibrant tribute to the rich history of activism within the community—honoring the unwavering fight for equality, justice and inclusion. It serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the progress achieved and to reflect on the ongoing journey towards building a truly equitable future for everyone.
Pride Month coincides with the historic Stonewall Uprising, when members of the LGBTQ+ community protested for two days following a police raid of a gay bar in New York City. This event galvanized the community, which was facing increased violence and discrimination, and it led to a movement that continues today.
As we celebrate the LGBTQ+ people who we work alongside and who make our own community a better place, it’s important to reaffirm our commitment to creating environments and spaces where all people feel seen and supported.
Here at St. Joe’s we have a voluntary, caregiver-led DEI group that is designed to create a more inclusive workplace. Their goal is to identify opportunities to ensure our environment welcomes diversity, equity and inclusion. They meet monthly.
Thank you for all you do to make St. Joe's So Great and a great place to work for all. Happy Pride Month!
