Medical Staff,
I previously sent a version of this message in December but given what a busy time of year that tends to be, I wanted to share it again so you’re aware of where St. Joseph Hospital is headed in 2026.
Last year required focus and adaptability and it also brought meaningful progress. Through it all, what remained constant was the standard of care delivered here every day — care that is thoughtful, skilled and grounded in compassion. That consistency is not accidental. It is the result of disciplined practice, strong teams and a shared sense of responsibility to the patients and communities we serve.
In 2025, we marked several important milestones. We earned our fifth consecutive Magnet® recognition and were the first in Providence to receive Magnet Recognition® with Distinction for Nursing Excellence. We were also recognized by Healthgrades and U.S. News, which named us one of the top 10 hospitals in LA/OC.
These recognitions are not simply accolades. They are indicators —evidence that the care delivered here meets a high and consistent standard, even in demanding circumstances.
At the same time, we are actively investing in what comes next, with comprehensive campus planning underway to ensure we have the buildings and infrastructure required to support care for generations to come.
We’re focused on expanding specialty centers such as cardiovascular care, behavioral health and our multi-organ transplant center. We’re also making deliberate investments in technology that improves patient outcomes. We recently added a new MRI, CT and SPECT-CT. In Ortho, two new Mako robots are now online. In our cancer center, a new linear accelerator is currently under construction and will be operational by June. Finally, we are preparing to break ground on a new Cath Lab, set to open in 2027.
These are not just upgrades; they are future-focused investments that position St. Joseph Hospital to continue leading in advanced, precision medicine.
The Sisters of St. Joseph did not build this hospital to be ordinary. They built it because they believed this community deserved exceptional care. That belief continues to guide how we grow, invest and serve — nearly a century later.
Looking ahead, we know the healthcare landscape will continue to present challenges alongside new opportunities. Our focus remains clear: delivering excellent care today while preparing thoughtfully for the future of healthcare. I’m confident in our ability to do that work well, together.
Thank you for the role you play in this shared mission.
