A message from Brian Helleland, CE and Troy Gideon CAO; Congratulations to our OCHD Heart & Vascular team

A message from Brian Helleland, CE and Troy Gideon CAO; Congratulations to our OCHD Heart & Vascular team

Another important first for St. Joseph and our OCHD Heart & Vascular team.

Dr. Xuan-Binh (or Ben) Pham and our operating room team recently performed the first VasQ™ device implantation in Orange County — and the first across the entire Providence health system.

That’s an incredible accomplishment, but what matters most is what it means for our patients.

For people who depend on dialysis, reliable vascular access is essential to receiving the treatment that sustains their lives. VasQ™ is an innovative technology designed to improve the function and durability of dialysis fistulas, helping reduce complications and support better long-term outcomes.

Being the first in Orange County and Providence to bring this technology to patients speaks to the expertise, collaboration and drive of our physicians and caregivers. It also reflects something we see across St. Joseph every day: teams continually looking for better ways to care for the people who depend on us.

Congratulations to Dr. Pham and the physicians, nurses, techs, operating room caregivers and everyone else who helped make this milestone possible. Thank you for continuing to push our care forward and bring new possibilities to our patients and community.
