Orange County Heart and Vascular Institute Completes FIRST Commercial Edwards Lifesciences SAPIEN M3 Procedure in OC

Patients with mitral regurgitation who may not be candidates for open heart surgery now have access to a new, less invasive treatment option available at Providence
St. Joseph Hospital.

Completion of the first SAPIEN M3 procedure in Orange County was truly a team effort by our Structural Heart physicians — Drs. Aidan Raney, Brian Kolski and Jeff Tyler (pictured at left) along with Drs. Maged Azer and Thomas Kim, who assisted in imaging during the procedure.

"This Structural Heart Team continues to lead the way in cardiovascular care," states Chief Executive Brian Helleland. "They are consistently bringing new treatments and technologies to Orange County; that doesn’t happen by accident. It takes a talented group of physicians, nurses and caregivers working together to create better ways to care for our patients."

"We’re incredibly proud of you and what you continue to accomplish," adds Chief Administrative Officer Troy Gideon. "Congratulations to everyone involved in this latest first. Thank you for continuing to raise the bar for cardiovascular care at St. Joseph Hospital."
