Interventional Radiologist Mahmood K. Razavi, MD, co-authored an April 13 article in The New England Journal of Medicine titled "Endovascular Therapy for Post-Thrombotic Syn-
drome — A Randomized Trial." The article states, "Among patients with moderate or severe post-thrombotic syndrome and iliac-vein obstruction, endovascular therapy led to less severe post-thrombotic syndrome and better health-related quality of life than standard care over a 6-month period but with a higher risk of bleeding."
The C-TRACT trial was a phase 3, multicenter, open-label, assessor-blinded, randomized, controlled trial sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. This publication marks Dr. Razavi's 7th NEJM co-authorship. His continued leadership of our research team has elevated research to a caliber rarely seen at a non-academic hospital, as well as care delivery at Providence. "This is another landmark achievement for St. Joe's research," says Dr. Razavi. "This article will change the landscape on venous disease treatment."
